Lufthansa's A380 fleet growing
Lufthansa will take delivery of its second A380 July 21 in Frankfurt prior to a naming ceremony in Munich on the 28th. Starting Aug. 2, the new aircraft will be used between Frankfurt and Tokyo to raise the number of flights from three each week to daily.

Turkish introduces Comfort Class
Turkish Airlines will soon begin offering customers Comfort Class seats along with Economy Class, Business Class and First Class sections. The new class will be placed between Economy Class and Business Class to combine the benefits of Business Class with the reasonable rates found in Economy Class.

SAS to add departures this fall
SAS will add 62 weekly departures this autumn on several intra-Scandinavian routes. Between Copenhagen and Stockholm, SAS will add two daily departures, taking the number of daily flights to 15 as of Sept. 1. SAS will also increase the number of departures on Copenhagen-Bergen, Copenhagen-Oslo, Copenhagen-Stavanger and Oslo-Stockholm.

Austrian plans flights to Baghdad
Austrian Airlines plans to start flights between Vienna and Baghdad Oct. 31. The resumption is conditional upon a flight safety analysis undertaken by the Austrian Airlines safety team in Baghdad in cooperation with national and international authorities.
If the analysis is positive, Austrian will fly four times each week to Baghdad with the Austrian Premium Service A320. Austrian has been flying to Erbil in northern Iraq since 2006. The Baghdad route was flown in 1982, but withdrawn during the Kuwait crisis in 1990.

Haneda Airport Marketplace promotes alliance benefits
Tokyo International Airport at Haneda, situated 14 km from downtown Tokyo, will become another important gateway to Japan once its new international terminal, Terminal 3, opens in October.
Terminal 3 will have four check-in islands and 10 contact gates, so Star Alliance is working with ANA to develop the next generation of Move under one Roof (MuoR) – the Integrated Alliance Terminal – to overcome the space constraint to meet the needs of the member carriers and their customers.

Asiana has placed its new OZ Quadra Smartium lie-flat business class seat on certain long-haul flights into and out of Seoul. The seat was named for the OZ flight code, the four main features of the seat and the smart placement of the seats for better accessibility.

Continental and TAM to codeshare

New ANA check in service to start July 1
ANA will begin a new check-in service for international customers July 1. Called CLICK, it will provide customers with a more convenient way to check in online or on Internet-enabled mobile phones.
At the airport, passengers will be able to proceed directly to security, without stopping at the check-in counters.. Check-in will be available from 24 hours before the flight to 75 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Air Canada, Brussels to codeshare to Africa
Air Canada has started flying daily between Montreal and Brussels, with same-plane service from Toronto. The year-round flights coincide with the start of codeshare services between Air Canada and Brussels Airlines on flights to Abidjan in the Ivory Coast and Conakry, Guinea.

TAM places order with Airbus
TAM will order 20 A320 family aircraft and five A350-900, the airline announced at the ILA Air Show in Berlin. The order increases the number of orders for Airbus aircraft to 176 including 134 aircraft of A320 family, 15 A330-200 and 27 A350 XWB.
