Star Alliance Reference Guide

Carrier Information

Greetings from Ethiopian Airlines

It is a great honour and privilege for all of us at Ethiopian to join Star Alliance, the longest-serving of its kind in the world. We strongly believe that the Alliance will greatly enhance our growth potential while offering a wide range of choices to our customers in terms of network connectivity and convenience.

With over 65 years of successful service, Ethiopian is the pioneer in the history of African aviation, committed to bringing Africa closer to the world. Our network spreads over 79 destinations, 40 of which are in Africa, 22 across four other continents and 17 in Ethiopia. During our fiscal year ending in June, 2011, we will have served over 3.5 million passengers across our network. We also have codeshare agreements with several international carriers that permit our clients to travel to other destinations and beyond.

Currently we operate 48 aircraft. We have 33 additional aircraft on order among which are 10 B787-8s and 12 A350s. Our long term strategic plan calls for the transformation of Ethiopian Airlines into a leading aviation group in Africa providing safe, dependable and superior quality of world-class service.

Ethiopian has recently received Bombardier’s Airline Reliability Performance award, Deal of the Year 2010 award and African Cargo Airline of the Year award for its achievements and contribution to the industry.

I would like to thank Star Alliance for welcoming Ethiopian to be part of its team, and look forward to making a contribution towards the advancement of the ideals of the alliance.
