Q: What are the benefits of interline e-tickets to the reservation/ticketing agents?
A: E-ticketing allows greater flexibility in servicing the Star Alliance customer. The e-ticket is available online from any touchpoint, independent of where and how the passenger is being served. Interline e-ticketing has been implemented between all Star Alliance member carriers.

Q: Is there a service fee for issuing an interline e-ticket?
A: Some carriers may apply a service fee for e-ticket issuance. Please contact the individual airline for more information.
Q: When do I still have to issue paper tickets?
A: Your system will indicate if the issuance of an e-ticket is technically not possible. In this case a paper ticket needs to be issued.
Q: Can I issue an interline e-ticket for groups?
A: Yes, most carriers have the ability to issue e-tickets for groups. Some carriers may have restrictions.
Q: Can I issue an interline e-ticket for a PNR with infant?
A: Yes, most carriers have the ability to issue e-tickets for infants. Some carriers may have restrictions.
Q: Can I issue an interline e-ticket for ID tickets?
A: Some carriers have the ability to issue ID interline e-tickets. Within the Alliance, interline ID e-tickets are under development.
Q: Can I issue an interline e-ticket for a fully open itinerary?
A: Some carriers have the ability to issue interline e-tickets with open segments, including fully open e-tickets. Within the Alliance, open segments in interline e-tickets are under development.
Q: Can I print an interline e-ticket to paper?
A: In IRROP situations, most carriers have the ability to print an e-ticket to paper using either the Direct Print or Print Exchange functionality, depending on the system’s capability.

Changes

Q: How do I make changes to an existing e-ticket?
A: All necessary information about the e-ticket is stored in the system and changes are done according to fare conditions, ticket validity and in accordance with the IATA Ticketing Handbook.
Q: How do I exchange another carrier’s e-ticket?
A: The validating carrier will grant airport control according to endorsement agreements so that the necessary ticket information is available in your carrier's system. Exchanges are done according to fare conditions, ticket validity and in accordance with the IATA Ticketing Handbook.
Q: What do I have to do if the fare, the origin/destination or the operating carrier changes?
A: The e-ticket must be reissued/exchanged.

Refunds/Voids

Q: How do I refund another carrier’s ticket?
A: Refunds of other carrier-issued e-tickets are not permitted.
Q: Can I void an interline e-ticket?
A: In accordance with individual airline policy, an interline e-ticket may be voided only by the validating carrier.
